Head of Platforms (Single Delivery Environment)
Reports to: Head of SDE (Jeremy Nuttall)

Working from home remotely, must be UK based eligible for BPSS
Context
The BTS CIO Team purpose is to provide governance and clear levels of accountability, to drive consistency and synergy across BTS accounts, and to enable the take on of new services and accounts in the future.
SDE operates within BTS CIO to provide a single delivery model (design, build and test) for existing BTS business and any future BTS businesses, providing a standard BTS engineering function in terms of IT & Operational Change.
The SDE Platforms Team supports environment/platform requirements as requested by projects and services for BTS customers (currently Aegon Protection, Aegon EB and NS&I).
Responsibilities
Set the strategy for BTS environments (solution, sizing, automation, etc)
Automate processes for creation and removal of BTS environments
Manage demand for BTS environments in order to reduce overall CIO costs (e.g. overnight closure, rapid creation/closure, rationalisation of environments)
Manage SDE SEF DevOps team
Line management of permanent staff, supplier management of relevant Atos/Eviden individuals and teams, management of contractors.
Take on and management of addition FTEs where appropriate to enhance the team
Manage environment team costs, facilitating moves where possible away from contractors and expensive third parties and towards offshore
Provide environments as a service:
Regular interpretation of Programme plans and working with Project and Portfolio managers to maintain an environments plan
Regular production of a defined matching environment plan that is resourced and published. Identify and define what is expected from the Environments and target audience
A forward plan for all environments
Working with the Technical Strategy team to ensure alignment
Work with the Service acceptance organization to ensure all environments that are moving into service are of an acceptable standard
Management of the environment availability and capacity
Management of the NS&I Application Build Management Team to ensure all Thaler Application are created, built and supported to meet the demands of the Retail & B2B programmes
Task Management of the NS&I Build Factory SME’s and Resource Coordinator to ensure delivery and support of environment requirements are met
Management of the Aegon EB Environments Team to ensure delivery and support of environment requirements are met. To ensure BAU activities, such as Patching, upgrades and programme deliverables are met
Job Requirements
Strong knowledge/experience of Environment & Build Processes
Clear understanding of the Project and Programme life cycle
Knowledge and experience of all background tasks
A good understanding of technical architecture
Strong planning, resourcing and managing skills
Strong communication skills
Strong conflict management skills and ability to solution problems/clashes quickly
