NIGERIA – A cross-section of Nigerians have reacted the arrest of Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

FunmiNews has reported that Magu was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday.

He was allegedly arrested over allegations of owning four properties and is said to have transferred funds abroad through a third party.

Reacting to the development, Nigerians on social media said some officials of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration are the most corrupt ever.

Below are reactions from some Nigerians on social media.

@ogenidipo, “The Head of the anti-corruption Agency arrested for corruption. As though it’s a Nollywood movie.”

ayodele_23, “2baba has said, even thief go de follow to dey shout Ole. I won’t blame Magu though, he’s seen the unprecedented level of looting in this administration so he decided to join the train. Nobody would love to be left behind when corruption is the official language of the leaders.”

@IAtalkspace, “Magu should have resigned a long time ago. Irrespective of the truthfulness of allegations against him, he should quit the job since very few people had confidence in him. The Attorney General & Minister of Justice accused him of “insubordination and misconduct. That was enough.”

@Ojibiloye, “DSS arrests Head of Nigeria’s no.1 anti-corruption agency, Ibrahim Magu, for corruption. The hunter has been entrapped by the bushmeat.”

@rizza, “See where “I always Want some More” has landed Magu. Same story with Hush.

Magu is not sharing the re-looted funds with anyone including AGF. Let the “Tell All” begin asap.”

@yemifash, “So Magu, the @officialEFCC boss is also a yahoo boy. This life is not balanced.”

@ruqqayah, “In one of such trips, Magu flew to Maiduguri alongside Mohammed with a bank MD who was being investigated by the EFCC over complicity in funds allegedly stolen by the immediate past petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.”Nigeria na pure cruise.”

@Michael88461663, “Does that mean the oga kpatakpa has a question to answer too? Because Nigerians and the Senate have been calling for his removal but oga said no say he die with Magu.”

@chuks_kris, “DSS has never hidden their disapprobation for Magu. Buhari would have avoided this Shame and embarrassment if he had considered the Letters from DSS to the Senate against the confirmation of Magu. Now, look how he’s made a mess of his Administration. Fighting corruption my Foot.”

@adekoladedammy, “Who will Apc twitter warriors blame for Magu’s arrest? Will they also say he was very very rich before he became efcc chairman?”
