“Dr. Joy Nunieh Is The Living George Floyd of Nigeria, she will change this country with her zeal and dedication to serving the country,” according to her spokesman, Mr. Ibanga Isine. He further stated “thank God she Survived the abduction attempt.”
Although not certain, some newspapers, in reporting the incidence, have called the attempt to break into the house of Dr. Nunieh at 4:00AM, an attempt on her life.
According to Isine, he received a frantic call from Dr. Nunieh about 4:00AM hysterically screaming in fear that there were people trying to break into her house. While on the phone with her, he could hear the banging on the door. It was very loud and it put him in fear for the life of Dr. Nunieh. He indicated when asked who they were she really could not identify them because it was still night time and this put her even more in fear for her life.
According to Mr. Isine, “it is frightful to think a woman could so be violated in her home by unknown persons. It was only later it was known that they claimed to be policemen. Although they refused to identify themselves except to say they are police.”
Mr. Isine indicated he will be on Arise TV on Sunday at 4:00PM to speak about the frightening incident of Thursday, wherein Dr. Joy Nunieh survived a purported abduction attempt.
Mr. Isine, an award-winning journalist and activist, was special adviser, Communications to Ms. Nunieh while she was acting MD of the NDDC. Before joining the NDDC, Mr. Isine was a visiting professor of journalism with the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, Adamawa State. He is a member of the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum and a representative of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta during the dialogue with the Federal Government. Mr. Isine is a highly regarded journalist both locally and internationally.
